Sony playstation 2 slimline problem. Please help?

My sony PS2 Slimline has stopped playing DVD’s and some games, why? I used to play Gran Turismo 4, Grand Theft Auto lll, and a few others on my PS2 but overnight it has stopped working. It will not load them yet it plays other games with no problem like GTA San Andreas, GT3, Singstar and Fifa. Also Used to play DVD’s no problem and now it just won’t load them. Discs are fine and work on freinds ps2’s and the laser is fine as plays alot of my other games. there are 7 that won’t work and my entire dvd collection which is working on PC, all my DVD players and my laptop.

clean the discs and the laser inside if not it is broken
mayby you ether need to wash the disc,get new ps2, take ps2 in to a game shop, or take games and dvds in to see if damaged
I definitely believe that the optical reader or laser is damaged which prevents it from reading the discs properly or stops it from playing or spinning the disk.
My advice is to take it to a games shop 4 a cheap repair, do not DIY the situation otherwise yer PS2 could be beyond repair.
The repair should be cheap since this version of the PS2 is sooo common.
