boozerooster asked: Sony HDTV 34″ XBR CRT, having errors. Red light flashes errors 4,6, & 7. Found workaround, but how much money to repair?
Sony HDTV CRT has been having slow startups for last couple weeks, but today wouldn’t turn on. Just flashes one of the error codes (4, 6, & 7) when the power button is presssed to turn it on. Found workaround by reseting factory defaults at power up (holding down reset button and power button at startup). Television then turns on, but want to know estimate on cost to repair from these errors. All local repair shops have ‘estimate fees’ around 100 dollars, but have never had confidence in that system. Is there anyone with experience with sony hd crt’s and these errors, the repair, and a rough cost?
Did open back of television and used canned air to blow out any dust. However, no change in performance after the dusting.
The crt has a manufacture date of September 2003 and was purchased close to that date.
Rough estimate or ideas?
Just to clarify: The television does work. As mentioned, I did find a work-around by using the ‘reset to factory presets’ function on the remote control. So since the tube still functions normally, could there be a simple ‘reset’ of something internally? Is there something i should mention when talking to a repair agent? Thanks!
